Terms of Service
1. Who we are
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Paleon Training website and online learning platform (the "Service"), operated by Paleon Training, a company registered in England & Wales, registered office 42 Okemore Gardens, Orpington, Kent BR5 3PH, United Kingdom ("Paleon Training", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
2. The Service
Paleon Training provides online courses in practical digital skills, including Cyber Security Fundamentals, Social Media Management & Content, GIS and Drone Mapping, Renewable Energy Digital Systems, and Digital Marketing. Each course consists of video and written lessons, assignments, quizzes, and a capstone project, delivered through the Service.
3. Accounts
- You must provide accurate, current information when registering.
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity that happens under your account.
- Accounts are personal to you and may not be shared or transferred.
- Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
4. Enrolment and payment
- Course fees and accepted payment methods are shown at checkout and may vary by country — currently card payment (GBP) or bank transfer (NGN) depending on your location.
- Bank transfer payments are confirmed manually once received; course access is granted once payment has been confirmed, which may not be instant.
- Prices may change at any time, but a change will not affect a course you have already paid for.
5. Refunds and cancellations
Course fees are paid in full, upfront, before access to that course's lessons is granted. Access is unlocked once payment has been confirmed (either automatically for card payments, or manually by our team for bank transfers).
- Cooling-off period. You may cancel and request a full refund within 14 days of the date your payment is confirmed, provided you have not completed more than 20% of the course's lessons (tracked as your progress percentage on the course). This mirrors the standard consumer "cooling-off" period and applies regardless of payment method.
- After the cooling-off period, or after 20% completion. Fees are non-refundable, except where required by law or at our discretion in exceptional circumstances (e.g. a documented medical emergency).
- How to request a refund. Email hello@paleontraining.com from the address on your account, including your full name and the course you enrolled in. We aim to confirm receipt within 2 business days.
- How refunds are paid. Card payments are refunded to the original card. Bank transfer payments are refunded by transfer back to the account the payment was sent from. Refunds are processed within 14 business days of approval; bank transfer refunds may take longer to clear depending on your bank.
- If we cancel a course. If Paleon Training discontinues a course you are enrolled in and paid for before you complete it, you will receive a full refund or, if you prefer, a credit toward another course.
- Account termination for breach. If your account is suspended or terminated for breaking the Acceptable Use rules in Section 8, you are not entitled to a refund for that course.
- Before payment is confirmed. If you registered or were added as a candidate but never completed payment, there is nothing to refund and no enrolment is created — you can simply choose not to proceed.
6. Course content and intellectual property
All lessons, videos, assignments, quizzes, and other materials made available through the Service are owned by Paleon Training or its licensors. Enrolling in a course gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to access that content for your own learning. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, or publicly share course materials without our written permission.
7. Assignments, quizzes, and academic honesty
Work you submit for grading must be your own. Instructors and admins review submissions and may decline to grade, or may revoke completion credit for, work that appears to be plagiarised or submitted on someone else's behalf.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- share your account credentials with anyone else;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or another user's account;
- scrape, copy, or systematically extract data or content from the Service;
- use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm another person;
- upload malicious code or attempt to disrupt the Service.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules.
9. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the Service available and course content up to date, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access, and we may update, add to, or discontinue courses or features at any time.
10. Disclaimer
Courses are provided for educational purposes. Completing a course, quiz, or capstone project does not guarantee any particular exam result, job, certification, or business outcome. The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
11. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, including loss of income, profit, business opportunity, or employment outcome, arising from your use of the Service — including where a course is marketed as preparing you for roles in sectors such as Oil & Gas, Telecommunications, or Banking. Completing a course, quiz, or capstone project does not guarantee any exam result, job offer, certification, or business outcome.
- Our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with the Service, however caused, is capped at the total amount you paid us for the course(s) giving rise to the claim in the 12 months before the event occurred.
- We are not liable for content, availability, or conduct of third-party services embedded in or linked from the Service (for example, YouTube-hosted lesson videos or payment processors), which are governed by that third party's own terms.
- We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including internet, hosting, or third-party service outages.
This section does not affect any statutory rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived by agreement, including under Nigerian or UK consumer-protection law where applicable to you.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, or as required by law.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless local consumer-protection law gives you rights that cannot be overridden.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
15. Contact
