AI + Cybersecurity Professional Accelerator for Businesses in South Africa
AI adoption needs owners who understand the risk. Develop them inside your organisation.
South African boards and executive committees are asking two questions at once: how fast can we use AI, and who is accountable for the risk? The AI + Cybersecurity Professional Accelerator develops professionals in financial services, mining, telecoms, retail and the public sector who can use AI well, assess its security and governance risks, and support responsible adoption. Live online, for teams in every province.
- Live online across South Africa
- 12 professional modules
- Real-workplace capstone
- Governance and POPIA awareness built in
The AI + Cybersecurity Professional Accelerator is a corporate professional-development programme from Paleon Training. It helps South African organisations develop professionals who can apply AI in their work while managing cybersecurity, AI risk, governance and data protection.
AI is creating new opportunities, and new cybersecurity risks
South African organisations are using AI for:
- drafting reports, board papers and client communication
- contact-centre assistants and customer self-service
- analysing operational, financial and maintenance data
- research and decision support for managers
At the same time, AI adoption raises questions that governance and risk teams must answer:
- Where does client and employee personal information go when staff use AI tools?
- Who approved the AI tools already in use, and who is accountable for them?
- How do staff recognise AI-written phishing and cloned executive voices?
- How are AI answers checked before they reach clients or the board?
- Do new AI systems pass the same security review as other systems?
Most organisations have AI enthusiasts and security specialists. Few have professionals who connect the two.
Build AI capability without losing sight of security
- Learn. Understand how AI works and how cybersecurity and governance protect the organisation.
- Analyse. Identify AI opportunities and the risks attached to each.
- Apply. Use AI in real professional workflows, with human review.
- Protect. Manage security, personal-information and governance risks.
- Transform. Support responsible, accountable AI adoption across the business.

People who work confidently with tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot.
Strengthen cybersecurity capability
Understanding of AI-driven threats, from deepfakes to AI-written phishing.
Support secure AI adoption
New AI tools introduced with security review and clear ownership.
Improve professional productivity
AI used for research, analysis and reporting, with checks.
Strengthen enterprise risk awareness
Professionals who can identify, assess and report AI risk.
Connect transformation with governance
Digital projects with accountability and data protection built in.
Build internal AI and cyber champions

Prepare for the future of work
Skills where AI, cybersecurity and business meet.
Training builds capability; it cannot guarantee that no incident will occur. It works best alongside your technical and governance controls.
Why train your professionals in AI and cybersecurity together?
AI changes how work is done, and attackers use it too. Governance frameworks expect someone to own the risk.
The Accelerator develops the professionals who can do that: people who use AI productively and can explain to an Exco how it is being used safely.
AI innovation ↔ cybersecurity ↔ business transformation
12 professional modules in 4 stages
Stage 1 Foundations
- 1AI Fundamentals for Professionals. Generative AI and large language models, tools such as ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, AI automation and agents, and where AI goes wrong, including hallucinations.
- 2Cybersecurity Fundamentals. Threats, vulnerabilities and risk; identity and access; data, network, endpoint and cloud security; incident response and security culture.
Stage 2 AI meets security
- 3AI-Powered Cyber Threats. AI-written phishing, social engineering, deepfakes and voice impersonation, automated attacks and identity fraud, studied for defence and awareness.
- 4Using AI for Cybersecurity. AI support for security research, threat analysis, document review, incident write-ups and policy drafts. AI supports qualified human judgement; it does not replace it.
- 5Prompt Engineering for AI & Security. A seven-part method (role, context, objective, data, constraints, output format, verification) applied to risk assessments, security reports, policy reviews and incident documentation.
- 6AI Security Risks. Data leakage, shadow AI, prompt injection and malicious inputs as concepts, model manipulation, inaccurate output, bias, over-reliance and third-party AI risk.
Stage 3 Govern and decide
- 7AI Governance & Responsible AI. AI policies, accountability, human oversight, privacy, access control, acceptable use, AI procurement questions, and monitoring and review.
- 8AI for Risk & Business Decision-Making. AI-supported risk assessments, business analysis, compliance workflows, management reports and continuity planning, with verification at every step.
- 9Security Operations & Incident Response. Monitoring, identification, triage, escalation, response, documentation and lessons learned, at a professional awareness level, including AI-assisted analysis.
Stage 4 Transform and apply
- 10AI-Enabled Digital Transformation. Introducing AI while keeping security, governance, data protection, business continuity and staff capability in place.
- 11Professional AI + Cybersecurity Workflows. Building repeatable workflows for security reporting, risk assessment, policy review, awareness content, research and management reporting.
- 12Professional Capstone Project. Each participant solves a real challenge from their organisation, moving from knowledge to application to a professional proposal.
All threat content is defensive. The programme never teaches attack techniques or harmful prompts.
Who should attend?
- Technology professionals: IT Managers, architects, technology and digital transformation teams.
- Cybersecurity professionals: information security, security operations and cyber risk teams.

AI and cybersecurity in real work
A supplier email asks accounts payable to update banking details before month-end
Using AI to help assess the warning signs, without sharing personal information with a public tool
An insurer wants a policy on staff use of generative AI
Using AI to draft a policy outline, then aligning it with existing governance
A mining group plans an AI tool to summarise maintenance reports
Structuring a risk assessment covering data, access, accuracy and continuity
The contact centre needs guidance on cloned-voice fraud
Using AI to draft clear awareness material, then checking every claim
An incident must be reported to the Exco
Using AI to organise notes into a clear report, with a person verifying the facts
A retailer wants AI-driven customer recommendations
Assessing the personal-information and security implications before launch
Don't just learn AI and cybersecurity. Apply both.
Each participant completes a capstone on a real challenge from their organisation, agreed with you at the start. Examples: an AI risk assessment, an AI-use policy, an AI-assisted security reporting workflow, an AI governance framework, or a secure AI adoption plan for one division. A Paleon facilitator reviews each capstone and gives written feedback.

AI should support professional judgement, not replace it
Participants learn to keep personal and client information out of unapproved tools, check AI output, recognise bias, keep a person accountable for every AI-supported decision, and apply access controls to AI systems. The programme builds awareness of handling personal information in line with POPIA. It is not legal advice.
